Why where you store your
Will & Documents is important.
Have you ever thought about where or what you do with your documents once you have decided to look after your family?
Here’s a few things to remember or think about..
Your original legal documents, such as Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Trusts are the only legally binding versions.
Scans, photocopies and computer records are not legally valid because they don’t have your original signature on them.
YOUR original Will is YOUR only Will and must be kept safely (Please read that again)
One place you should never keep an original Will is at home. Because if you have a fire, flood or burglary, you risk losing your Will. If your Will is damaged in any way, then the courts could declare the Will invalid.
Your documents, such as Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Trusts, are kept in a waterproof wallet in a specialised document archive facility.
You will be provided with plastic identity cards for you and your Executors. They display your name, a unique storage reference number and our contact details.
When your Executors need to access your Documents, all they need to do is provide us with a death certificate and proof of their identity. We will send your documents to them free of charge, using a secure, next day delivery service.
so for a small annual fee is it worth protecting the documents that are important for your future…?
The choice is yours.
